WLS-TV in CHICAGO On Friday, CPD and the FBI are looking for the man suspected in the armed robbery of a Loop bank on Thursday.
The suspect was seen on cell phone footage released by CWB Chicago to be kneeling on the ground as he stuffed money into a bag before making his getaway. Cash is flying around like wildfire.
The 59-year-old security guard was barely hit when a bullet grazed him. A number of windows on the main floor of the bank appeared to be broken as a result of the gunfire.
The FBI released a surveillance photo and description of the suspect, who was described as a man, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a medium build, and wearing a black hooded jacket, a mask, winter gloves, and blue jeans. The heist occurred at the Fifth Third Bank on Madison Street between Wacker Drive and 3 o’clock in the afternoon.

On Thursday afternoon, a bank robbery escalated into a gunfight between the suspect and a security guard, causing widespread panic in the downtown area. Marissa Perlman of CBS 2 reported that the assailant shot the security guard before fleeing the scene. The FBI has launched a search for him at this time.
The FBI reports that the heist took place at the Fifth/Third Bank on Madison Street and South Wacker Drive. Located in the basement of a Helmut Jahn–designed office tower is a branch of a major bank. The Civic Opera House is around the corner, and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange building is direct across the street.

However, on Thursday afternoon, six bullet holes were found in the bank’s revolving door. All of the bank’s windows were shattered. There was shattered glass everywhere in front of the bank, and the police had placed markers near a dozen spent shell casings.
After the robbery, police in Chicago swarmed through the busy downtown area right as the afternoon rush began. The 59-year-old security guard reportedly confronted the suspect as he emerged from the bank at 2:59 p.m., according to police.
According to police, the suspect opened fire, striking the security guard in the right hand. According to the police, the security guard pulled out his own firearm and fired at the perpetrator, but missed.
The police say the security guard refused medical treatment. After initial reports that the guard had been shot in the left shoulder and was in stable condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police later corrected their story.

According to the police, the suspect ran east on Madison Street, which was closed between Franklin Street and Wacker Drive.
Shortly after the robbery, however, police cars sped in the opposite direction on Madison Street after receiving information that the suspect may have fled that way. According to reports, the suspect fled across the river to the Ogilvie Transportation Center, located to the west of the crime scene.
Metra reported that Ogilvie was closed for a while, but after Chicago Police conducted a search and found no sign of the suspect, the station reopened.
