On The Loop CTA Platform, A Woman Was Fatally Stabbed
Chi-town — According to Chicago police, a woman was fatally stabbed on a Loop CTA platform early Saturday. The police have a suspect in mind, but so far he has managed to elude capture.
According to a CPD press release, a man stabbed a 26-year-old woman at 1:26 a.m. while she was standing on the Adams-Wabash platform at 201 South Wabash. She descended the stairs and promptly passed out in the street in front of Miller’s Pub (134 South Wabash). While waiting for emergency services, bystanders helped the woman.
She had been stabbed in the neck, torso, and arm, and paramedics rushed her there, but she later died from her wounds. The killing of her marks the beginning of the year’s Loop homicides.
A police officer who reviewed the surveillance footage confirmed that the suspect had followed the victim from the street level to the platform, where he then attacked her. Short-haired and Hispanic, the man was described by the police officer as donning a shiny puffy coat, a gray sweatshirt, jeans, and black and white gym shoes.
Murder-Suicide Determined In Fatal Shooting At South Loop Condo
TO THE CITY OF CHICAGO — It appears that the murder-suicide that took place Monday in a South Loop condo where a married couple was shot to death was premeditated.
According to the findings of the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, Leticia Zaragoza, 45, was shot and killed by her 36-year-old live-in boyfriend, Joseph P. Fry. On Monday, police said that the shooting happened between Sunday afternoon at 2:00 and Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the 2000 block of S. Indiana Avenue, which is direct across the street from Wintrust Arena.
Both victims were found dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds to the head. Tony Garcia, Zaragoza’s brother, said on Monday that his sister never caused any trouble, as reported by WGN News.
“Everyone loved her,” he gushed. She’s a stunning human being. Many people adore her. What happened to her was unfair. No one else does.
A Hispanic man in his 30s was named as the suspect by name in radio transmissions from other officers. There have been no arrests reported by the police as of yet.
