It premiered in February 2021 and gained instant fame after Taylor Swift got into an online fight over a joke in the show. The dramedy, which stars Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry, follows the Miller family as they adjust to life in a new city.
We assumed from the get-go that Ginny & Georgia would quickly be renewed for a third season based on its early performance, but that has yet to happen several months later.
Things like viewing hours, amount of people watching, completion rates, and how well the show is perceived are all taken into account when deciding whether or not to renew a show on Netflix, as we’ve discussed in depth here. Showrunner Sarah Lampert told Deadline just before Season 2 aired that a renewal decision had not yet been made.
Usually by now, we would have uncovered at least a few sources who have suggested that work has begun on a third season, but that has not happened as of yet. The show’s future is uncertain because of the ongoing writer’s strike (in which Ginny & Georgia’s executive producer is participating).
When Will Season 3 Of “Ginny And Georgia” Premiere?
New episodes of the show will begin streaming on Netflix as soon as the service renews the show. The COVID pandemic pushed up the premiere of Season 2, but new episodes could debut as early as the first half of 2024 if the show is renewed in the coming weeks and months.
What Can We Anticipate From The Third Season Of Ginny & Georgia?
Even though Ginny & Georgia hasn’t been officially renewed, it doesn’t mean the writers aren’t already hard at work on season two. TV Guide spoke with showrunner Sarah Lampert and stars Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry to find out the following information. (The entire exchange with Lampert is reproduced here.)
Georgia is already planning her escape route. I believe she is plotting something. According to Howey’s comments to TV Guide, “she probably knows how she’s going to handle this already.” To what extent does she feel prepared? Regardless, she will deal with it because it is what she does.
Ginny and Marcus are not in any hurry to get back together. When asked where the relationship stands, Gentry said, “Ginny has that layer of like, ‘My mom’s a killer,’ all this stuff.” In my opinion, they ought to get along. I believe they should provide unconditional support for one another.
Georgia and Joe may still have feelings for one another. What Georgia doesn’t take into account is the potential that Joe has as a romantic companion. Lampert hinted that Paul was a metaphor for everything the woman wanted to prove to herself. Paul has the means to give her and her family a comfortable existence. Joe probably would have given her that, but I think she’s so focused on what Paul can provide her that she hasn’t even considered exploring her feelings for Joe.
