Officials Have Said That Drivers Can Take Exit 17 As A Detour
Moss noted that while one suspect has been taken into custody, police are still looking for a second. Local and county authorities in Maine, as well as the Maine State Police, are using K9 units to try and track down the second missing person.
A heightened sense of awareness is warranted in the region. Officials in Yarmouth claim they have located a firearm.
In a Facebook post, the police stated, “Police advise that there is no active threat to the community at this time and no need for lockdowns.” There will be closures of the freeway for some time while police continue their investigation. Closed-off locations will be reopened as soon as practicable.

He was heading south, the witness told WMTW, when he saw smoke coming from a car, apparently from a gunshot. The Maine Department of Transportation reports that I-295 southbound is closed. A detour via Exit 17 has been implemented, although authorities have confirmed that motorists are being directed to exit sooner at Exit 20.
