Netflix has ordered a third and final season of the hit post-apocalyptic adventure series Sweet Tooth. In an alternate reality, Earth has been devastated by a virus, and human-animal hybrid children have begun to arise.
Gus, played by Christian Convery, is a strange and courageous half-deer hybrid who, in Sweet Tooth, travels with the Big Man, Tommy Jepperd (Nonso Anozie), across the ruins of America. The Last Men, an extremist paramilitary group that will resort to any means necessary to restore civilization, including the intrusive and cruel experimentation on hybrids, are the enemy that Gus and Big Man must unite to defeat.
Season 2 included a significant role for the Last Men, led by the vile General Abbot (Neil Sandilands), against their hybrid oppressors, and Netflix allowed Gus to take the helm of the movement. The show’s creators will have the resources to finish the tale if the show is renewed for a third season, which is fantastic news even if fans will be sad to see their favorite characters go.
Is Sweet Tooth coming back for season 3?
It’s too soon to say if the show will return as its huge premiere was only on April 27. Nonetheless, the show’s first season garnered a large fan following, so here’s hope viewers remain interested in season two to increase the likelihood of a third installment.
The time it took for that to occur was relatively short. On May 3rd, Netflix made the exciting announcement that the program would be returning for a second season. We’ll be bidding our final goodbyes to Gus and the gang once this episode airs. But please, give us a conclusion!
Sweet Tooth Season 3 Premiere Date
Streaming services like Netflix don’t have to adhere to the same annual calendar as broadcast networks, so they can take their time between seasons. Season 3 of Sweet Tooth has not been formally confirmed, but it has a strong possibility of following Netflix’s regular trend, therefore a release date can be speculated.
Given that the first season premiered in 2021 and the second didn’t arrive until 2023, it’s safe to assume that the third season of Sweet Tooth won’t hit the platform until at least the end of 2024 and possibly not until the middle of 2025.
Sweet Tooth Season 3 Story
Season 2 of Sweet Tooth ended with Abbot being defeated in Yellowstone, in Gus’s old cabin. It was made obvious that this was the beginning of the end for these people. Gus embarked on a journey with Big Man, Wendy, and Bear/Becky to find his mother in Alaska.
Season 3 of Sweet Tooth will undoubtedly usher in a new era for the series protagonists, and by splintering the ensemble, the showrunners have paved the way for additional storylines that might continue indefinitely.
As the revelation that Gus may have control over wild creatures introduced another layer to the hybrids, the lore of the show is expected to receive greater attention in Season 3.
A new villain will need to be introduced into the series if Abbot is actually destroyed, and the comics is a potential source for this, albeit the violent comic villain figures from Sweet Tooth may be too dark for the family-friendly show. With its audience having expanded and diversified since the show’s inception, season 3 of Sweet Tooth may present a chance for the series to develop further.
Sweet Tooth season 3 cast
Sure, there’s Gus (Christian Convery) and Tommy (Nonso Anozie), but who else will be there? Season 3 is where we expect to see these returning characters:
- Adeel Akhtar as Dr Singh
- Stefania LaVie Owen as Bear
- Naledi Murray as Wendy
- Christopher Sean Cooper Jr as Teddy
- Aliza Vellani as Rani Singh
- Neil Sandilands as General Abbot
Marlon Williams’ Johnny Abbot will not be returning for the third season. Douglas fatally shot Johnny in the final scene. Since Aimee Eden tragically passed away from The Sick, Dania Ramirez will also not be returning to her role as Aimee Eden.
Sweet Tooth Season 3 Trailer
It’s not hard to guess when a trailer for Sweet Tooth season 3 will be released, despite the fact that the third season has not yet been officially announced. If Season 3 doesn’t wrap up production until around 2024,
fans should expect a teaser similar to the one released in the middle of 2022 for Season 2. If Netflix follows its regular pattern, the third season of Sweet Tooth will have its official trailer released around a week before the episodes become available to stream.
The American fantasy drama series Sweet Tooth was created by Jim Mickle. It was inspired by DC Comics’ comic book of the same name, authored by Jeff Lemire. Netflix’s original series premiered on June 4, 2021.
