The Night Agent Season 2: Will It Continue Or Will It Be Canceled?

Netflix has confirmed The Night Agent season 2 after the first season became one of the network’s most-watched shows ever. The political drama with loads of twists and turns as FBI agent Peter Sutherland discovers conspirators within the government, as well as renegade assassins and a murder witness named Rose who he must protect if he is to get any answers.

The series, based on Matthew Quirk’s book, is co-produced by The Shield and SWAT’s Shawn Ryan and The Good Doctor’s Seth Gordon, and stars The Whale’s Oscar-nominated Hong Chau, Death in Paradise and Siren star Fola Evans-Akingbola, and Lucifer’s DB Woodside.

Gabriel Basso as Peter leads them all, an actor best known for his appearances in the films Super 8 and The Big C, whose real-life action-hero background made him ideal for the role. “He almost became a Navy SEAL until he got a torn labrum [shoulder],” Ryan said to TV Insider. “I teased him, saying, ‘Peter’s not as badass as you are in real life.'”

Season 2 of The Night Agent will be released on Netflix in 2024, but no precise date has been revealed. Given that the series’ first season began on March 23, this is a remarkable turnaround. “The last week has been a whirlwind as we’ve finally been able to share The Night Agent with the world,” Ryan stated in a statement to Netflix.

What Will Happen In The Second Season Of The Night Agent?

The first season of The Night Agent concludes in a way that clearly leaves things open for Peter and Rose. In the last episode, Peter and Rose say their goodbyes after saving the day (and the President) from VP Redfield and Diane Farr’s murder plans. Peter is about to embark on his first secret operation as a Night Agent.

He has no idea where he is going or what his mission will be, but he vows to call her as soon as he can. Ryan said that he’s already thinking about what Peter would do following the climactic moment and what it might affect his relationship with Silicon Valley CEO Rose.

“What does Peter getting on this plane and flying somewhere (presumably overseas to embark on some new wild adventure) mean, with Rose returning to California to pursue her Silicon Valley dreams once more?” We probably have some preliminary thoughts.”

Luciane Buchanan, who plays Rose, also told Netflix that she hopes her character’s journey continues after she lost her cyber tech company after being deceived by a friend. “[The finale] leaves it very open-ended… “I also want closure for her; I’m like, ‘This girl needs a lot of therapy after everything she’s been through,'” she remarked.

The Night Agent Season 2 Cast

Many characters die as a result of bullets, bombs, and a few determined hitmen in The Night Agent (RIP, special agents Erik Monks and Ben Almora, we’ll miss you).

However, some of the important characters make it to the conclusion, so we might see them again if the creators don’t go rogue with the screenplay (more on that below). Season two potential returners include:

• Gabriel Basso as FBI agent Peter Sutherland
• Luciane Buchanan as tech whiz Rose Larkin
• Hong Chau as (former) Chief of Staff Diane Farr
• Sarah Desjardins as VP’s daughter Maddie Redfield
• Fola Evans-Akingbola as Secret Service agent Chelsea Arrington
• Christopher Shyer as (former) Vice President of Redfield
