As of June 2021, six months before the series premiere in November 2021, Prime Video had already confirmed a renewal.
As a result, it’s safe to assume that there will be a second season of The Wheel of Time. Actually, production on Season 2 wrapped up in the spring of 2022, and it is currently in post-production.
TVLine spoke with Vernon Sanders, Amazon Studios’ Head of Global TV, shortly before the series premiere aired to find out why the decision to order a second season had been made so early.
“We’re fans of the show, and as episodes came in and we saw the level of craft, and as we continued to talk to [showrunner] Rafe [Judkins] about where future seasons would go, we felt really confident that we had something that could go for a very long time for us.
“These are massive investments, so naturally we spent a lot of time making sure we were making the right choice here, and it’s paid off for us ever since. The outstanding cast, led by Rosamund Pike as Moiraine, and the hard work of Rafe and his team deserve all the praise they have received.
Date Of Season 2 Of The Wheel Of Time’s Release
Production on the movie started in July of 2021, so audiences hoped it would hit theaters in the spring or summer of 2022. Not so far, at least.
Nonetheless, there is some encouraging news. Cue the horns… Production on season two of Wheel of Time has concluded, as announced on the show’s official Twitter.
As the second season wrapped up filming, the show released a behind-the-scenes teaser video that provided a glimpse into the production process.
There were pictures of the cast and crew from the table read and the set. It also featured some exciting stunt work and an inside look at the artist’s hard work on the sculptures. It’s short, but it’s exciting, and it gives us a sneak peek at some new characters, settings, and outfits.
The Storyline Of Season 2 Of “The Wheel Of Time”
Vernon Sanders gave a very encouraging response to TVLine’s question about whether or not season two will “go even bigger” than the first season, as fans wait with bated breath for what’s to come.
What he said was: “Rafe and Rosamund have been outstanding leaders, showing great forethought, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to doing things the right way.
After establishing such a large world and cast of characters in the first season, we asked ourselves how we could improve upon them in the second. Thus, I will confidently assert that season 2 of Wheel of Time will be even bigger, bolder, and more expansive than the first.”
Due to the substantial source material presented in the original series of 14 novels, the continuation of the show requires a bolder, more expansive approach.
You can purchase the second book, The Great Hunt, as well as the full box set or just the first three novels here. The first season covers the first book, The Eye of the World.
