Even Stranger Things must come to an end. The hit Netflix sci-fi thriller, which debuted in the summer of 2016, will conclude with its fifth season, which has yet to be released. On February 17, 2022, the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, broke the news in a heartfelt letter to fans.
“We planned out the entire story arc for Stranger Things seven years ago,” they wrote. “At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons.” It became too big to tell in four parts, but as you’ll soon see, we’re nearing the end. Season 4 will be the penultimate season, and Season 5 will be the final.”
Stranger Things season 4 is finally complete (with an action-packed finale), and the wait for the next and final chapter begins. So far, here’s what we know.
When Will Stranger Things 5 Come Out?
It’s too soon to tell, but we can draw inspiration from previous seasons. According to the Duffers’ letter, the fourth season took over two years to complete and was released in two parts on May 27 and July 1, 2022.
While filming ST4 during the peak of the pandemic and lockdown undoubtedly caused delays, preparing a major finale season will also necessitate a lengthy wait. We won’t see ST5 until well into 2024.
David Harbour almost proved this idea correct. “I believe we will shoot next year.” They’re finishing it this year and need to prepare, so hopefully it’ll be this year, “But, I believe, that is the plan.
Stranger Things Season 5 Plot
Stranger Things season 5’s plot will most likely focus on the massive hole that was formed in the center of Hawkins, which is undoubtedly tied to the Upside Down. The Duffers have previously stated that this will be a major focus for the season.
Variety published an interview with Matt and Ross Duffers before of the release of Stranger Things season 4 volume 2, in which they teased several narrative developments for season 5. They do not know whether season 5 will be divided into two halves, as season 4 was, but they are aware of a few major story topics that will be covered.
So we can anticipate Upside Down’s past and all of its fascinating lore to be the main plot of season 5. It’s fantastic! The producers also said that in season 5, we will learn why the Upside Down is locked in time on the day Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) went missing. Stranger Things season 4 volume 1 reveals this, although it is not explained.
Stranger Things season 5 cast
As you may have guessed, not everyone survived Season Four, as much as we wished they would.

• Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven)
• Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler)
• Noah Schnapp (Will Byers)
• Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair)
• Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson)
• Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield)
• Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair)
